Strontium molybdate is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of polycarboxylic acids. It is used in the detection of nitrite ions in urine samples. Strontium molybdate has low energy emission, which can be detected by fluorescence spectrometry. This compound is also used as a catalyst for nitric oxide production and in the production of ethylene diamine (used in the manufacture of nylon). Strontium molybdate may be used as part of a sample cell when determining particle size.
