Product Information

Name:
Salsolidine
Description:

Salsolidine is a naturally occurring organic compound that is found in the roots of the plant Pueraria lobata. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme dopamine β-hydroxylase, which converts dopamine to norepinephrine and epinephrine. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to an increase in levels of dopamine, which may be responsible for salsolidine's anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive activities. Salsolidine binds to the allyl carbonate group on streptavidin, preventing it from binding with biotin. This prevents the formation of ternary complexes between streptavidin and biotin-conjugated proteins such as antibodies or avidin-conjugated enzymes. This property may be used for therapeutic purposes by blocking antigen-antibody reactions in autoimmune diseases.
