(S)-(+)-sec-Butylamine is a chemical compound that is a secondary amine. It is an amide of butyric acid, with the chemical formula CH3CH2CH2NH2. (S)-(+)-sec-Butylamine has been used in assays to identify chlorates and other molecules containing nitrogen. It also has been used in the synthesis of amides and esters, as well as in enzymatic methods that require acidic pHs. The stereoselective synthesis of (S)-(+)-sec-butyl amine has been studied using ethyl decanoate and ethyl esters.
