Strontium nitrate is a chemical compound that is soluble in water and is used as an oxidation catalyst. The water vapor reacts with the strontium to form strontium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid, which then react with the nitrate to produce strontium nitrate. Strontium nitrate has been shown to be effective against malignant brain tumors, possibly due to its ability to reduce the thermal expansion of these cells. Strontium nitrate has a high chemical stability and shows no signs of decomposition or degradation at temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius. This compound also exhibits biological properties, including being able to bind calcium ions and activate voltage-gated calcium channels. It has been shown that sodium salts such as sodium chloride can affect the solubility of strontium nitrate, while magnesium salt solutions may have no effect on this solubility.
