Sodium diphenylaminesulfonate is a post-synthetic reagent that is used in analytical chemistry for the control of compounds with carboxy, nitrite, and hydroxy groups. It can be used to determine the presence of these functional groups by measuring the fluorescence intensity of a compound. The hydroxyl group reacts with potassium dichromate, forming an orange precipitate that is soluble in water. The redox potential of sodium diphenylaminesulfonate is 1.14 volts at pH 7.0 and 0.00 volts at pH 0.
