Succinimidyl-6-(iodoacetyl)aminocaproate is an analog of the natural amino acid lysine. It has been shown to be a stable complex with pyrite, which can be used in the prevention of infectious diseases. This compound has been shown to bind to the receptor for interleukin-2 and inhibit its activity. Succinimidyl-6-(iodoacetyl)aminocaproate also binds to concatemers and forms stable complexes with DNA, inhibiting cancer cell growth by blocking kinase receptors. This biocompatible polymer is also able to hybridize with complementary strands of DNA to form a molecule that can be used in optical systems that use light waves.
