Product Information
- Bromodifluoroacetic Acid Sodium Salt
- Acetic Acid, 2-Bromo-2,2-Difluoro-, Sodium Salt (1:1)
Sodium bromodifluoroacetate (SBDFA) is a dibutyl ester of bromodifluoroacetic acid. It is a highly reactive, bioactive molecule that has been shown to be effective against phytopathogens such as fungi and bacteria. SBDFA reacts with amines by nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl carbon atom in the ester bond. The reaction mechanism is thought to involve formation of an iminium ion intermediate, which can then undergo hydrolysis or be trapped by a second amine molecule. The functional theory predicts that the reaction is reversible, as it can also proceed through a proton-coupled electron transfer mechanism. This compound has been shown to have high yield and good functional group compatibility for use in chemical reactions with carbenes and dihydropyridines.
