Description:

Silver Pyridine-2-carboxylate is a soluble, silver salt of picolinic acid. It is used as an oxidizing agent in organic synthesis and can be prepared by the reaction of sodium nitrate with amines followed by oxidation with nitric acid. Silver Pyridine-2-carboxylate is insoluble in water and alcohols, but soluble in ethers, acetone, and other solvents. It has been used to prepare amides from primary amines or aldehydes with styrene. The compound also has been used as an oxidant for synthetic reactions involving c-h bonds.
