Description:

Sodium laurate is a glycol ether that is used as a reaction solution in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It has been shown to have synergic effects with other compounds, such as the fluorescence probe 4-methylumbelliferyl phosphate. Sodium laurate has also been shown to inhibit the activity of toll-like receptor 2. The phase transition temperature for sodium laurate is between 20 and 30°C, making it an effective surfactant at room temperature. This chemical compound also has a basic structure, which makes it soluble in water, and can exist in an intermolecular hydrogen bonding arrangement. Sodium laurate is commonly used in skin care products as a surfactant and emulsifier. It has also been used to treat infectious diseases caused by bacteria, such as tuberculosis.
