Product Information

Name:
Somatostatin 28 (1-12)
Description:

Somatostatin 28 (1-12) is a peptide hormone that is part of the somatotropin family and is primarily produced by the hypothalamus. Somatostatin 28 (1-12) belongs to a group of hormones known as octapeptides, which are characterized by their eight amino acid residues. Somatostatin 28 (1-12) has been found to inhibit the release of growth hormone and insulin from the anterior pituitary gland and may be involved in the control of other hormones, such as prolactin, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and glucagon. Somatostatin 28 (1-12) can also be found in neurons in the hippocampus and amygdala regions of the brain. It has been shown to inhibit neuronal cell proliferation in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis or protein synthesis.
