Substance P, Free Acid is a diagnostic agent that can be used to detect the presence of infectious and inflammatory diseases. This analog of substance P has been shown to have receptor activity in vitro and in vivo. Substance P, Free Acid is reactive with fatty acids and is degradable by β-amino acid oxidase. It has been shown to be an active analog against the bacteria Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. Molecular modeling studies suggest that this analog interacts with the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell death.
