Product Information
Sophoflavescenol is a lipophilic molecule that inhibits the activity of tyrosinase. It has been shown to inhibit the production of melanin in cells without inhibiting other important cellular processes, such as protein synthesis or apoptosis. Sophoflavescenol is composed of a hydroxyl group, a prenyl group, and a nonpolar solvent, which are responsible for its potent inhibitory effect on tyrosinase. Furthermore, this molecule also contains an aromatic ring with two phenolic hydroxyl groups, which may be involved in its ability to form hydrogen bonds with tyrosinase and other proteins. The structure of sophoflavescenol is similar to sildenafil (Viagra), which is used for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. This similarity may explain why sophoflavescenol has an inhibitory effect on tyrosinase activity in HL-60 cells and potent inhibitory
