Silver Pentafluoropropionate is a compound that is an effective antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to reduce the growth of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, by releasing silver ions. Silver Pentafluoropropionate is also able to inactivate viruses, fungi, and spores. The reaction temperature for this compound is low; it can be used at room temperature or below. The reactivity of Silver Pentafluoropropionate with alcohols can be attributed to its carboxylate functional group. This compound has a high viscosity due to its long chain length, which makes it useful for industrial applications such as gas scrubbing or water treatment. Silver Pentafluoropropionate also has a redox potential that can be harnessed for energy efficiency purposes.
