N-Tritylglycine is an acidic amino acid that can be protonated in a highly acidic environment. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor tissue by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting protein synthesis. N-Tritylglycine is used as a reagent for analytical chemistry, where it is used to detect amines such as histamine and serotonin. N-Tritylglycine also has been shown to be potent inhibitor of kinesin.
