- Quinoxaline, 2,3,6-trichloro-
2,3,6-Trichloroquinoxaline is a molecule that is synthesized by the dihydrogenation of 2,3,6-trichloropyridine and 2,3,5-trichlorobenzaldehyde. Its molecular weight is 208.2 g/mol and it has a skeleton of three rings. This molecule can be used in the chemical ionization process to analyse organic compounds. It has the ability to oxidise many substances such as amines and quinoxalines. 2,3,6-Trichloroquinoxaline has been shown to bind to adenosine receptors in the central nervous system and block calcium channels. Chloride ions are also able to bind to this molecule which causes an increase in chloride ion permeability across cell membranes.
