(1,1,2,2-Tetrafluoroethoxy)cyclohexane is a population of microtubules that are modified to be stable in the presence of plasma membranes. This modification increases the diameter of the microtubule and changes its polymorphism. The population is heterozygous, which means that it contains two different alleles for each gene. Isolates of (1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethoxy)cyclohexane have been categorised into two sections: pullorum and non-pullorum. Pullorum isolates have a sectioned cytoplasm that is oriented perpendicular to the plane of the cell membrane while non-pullorum isolates have an unsectioned cytoplasm that is aligned in parallel with the plane of the cell membrane. Further research on this population may lead to new discoveries about how microtubules can be used for therapeutic purposes.
