Tris(acetonitrile)(eta5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium hexafluorophosphate is an organic reagent that is soluble in methanol and ether. It has a melting point of 240°C, a boiling point of 246°C, and a density of 1.0 g/mL at 25°C. This compound has been recrystallized from diethyl ether or acetone to give crystals with a melting point of 241-243°C. Tris(acetonitrile)(eta5-pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)ruthenium hexafluorophosphate reacts with oxygen in air to form hydrogen peroxide, which may be harmful to the environment. The solubility in water is greater than 100 mg/mL at 25°C and it does not react with acids or bases.
