Description:
(S)-1-[(2-Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethanol is an intermediate in the synthesis of choline. It has been shown to have a synergistic effect when combined with geotrichum and to increase the cell membrane permeability in fungus cells. The reaction system is a eutectic, meaning that the product yield is maximized at a certain temperature. (S)-1-[(2-Trifluoromethyl)phenyl]ethanol has been shown to be effective as a substrate for cell membrane biotransformation processes that result in the production of choline.
