2-(Trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid is an alkali metal salt that is prepared by the reaction of sodium hydroxide with isatin. It can be used as a reagent in organic synthesis, including the conversion of ketones to esters and the hydrolysis of esters. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid is also used as a catalyst in hydrogenation reactions.
2-(Trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolinecarboxylic acid is prepared by reacting sodium hydroxide with isatin, which yields high yields. The neutral salt can be hydrolyzed to produce the corresponding carboxylic acid. This product also reacts with metal salts to form alkali metal salts.
