Description:

Trichloro(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10)silane is a polymerizable fluorinated silicone resin. It has high affinity for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and can be used to coat PVC surfaces with a thin layer of silicone. Trichloro(3-chloropropyl)silane is generally employed as the starting material in the production of this resin. The polymerization of trichlorosilane is initiated by free radicals produced in an initiation step. This process leads to crosslinking between adjacent chains and maximizes the coating thickness. Trichloro(3-chloropropyl)silane is also used as a monomer in the production of polystyrene (PS).
