Product Information
- 2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid, 6-(Trifluoromethyl)-, Methyl Ester
- Methyl 6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-2-carboxylate
- Methyl 6-Trifluoromethyl-2-Pyridinecarboxylate
6-Trifluoromethyl-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of myeloblasts in clinical studies. It also showed a low level of toxicity in hematological toxicity studies and was found not to be mutagenic in bacterial mutation assays. 6-Trifluoromethyl-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester binds to the hydrophobic groove on the surface of the myeloid cell receptor, and inhibits the interaction between myeloid cells and leukemic cells, leading to an inhibition of leukemogenesis. This compound also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its activity as a COX inhibitor.
