Product Information

Name:
4'-(Trifluoromethyl)propiophenone
Synonyms:
  • p-Trifluoromethylpropiophenone
  • 1-[4-(Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]Propan-1-One
  • 4'-(trifluoromethyl)propiophenone
Description:

4'-(Trifluoromethyl)propiophenone is a triazole that has been shown to be an antifungal agent. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, which is a vital component of fungal cell membranes. The anti-fungal activity of 4'-(Trifluoromethyl)propiophenone is due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme 1-hydroxy-7-azabenzotriazole (1OHA), which is involved in the synthesis of ergosterol. 4'-(Trifluoromethyl)propiophenone reacts with 1OHA and forms an intermediate that can then react with alcohols and catalysed by oxidant to produce dieback.
