Product Information

Name:
2-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)acetonitrile
Synonyms:
  • 2,4,5-Trifluorobenzyl Cyanide
  • 2,4,5-(Trifluorophenyl)Acetonitrile
Description:

2-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)acetonitrile is a potent nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of estrogen in breast cancer cells. It is used for the treatment of breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are estrogen receptor positive. 2-(2,4,5-Trifluorophenyl)acetonitrile is structurally related to aminoglutethimide and cyclopentylmethyl derivatives and inhibits the activity of aromatase by binding to the heme portion of cytochrome P450 enzymes. 2-(2,4,5-Trifluorophenyl)acetonitrile has also been shown to inhibit ovulation in Sprague-Dawley rats.
