6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carbonitrile is a piperidine derivative that can be synthesized by the reaction of azide and c1-c10 alkyl chloride. The yield of this compound is very high and it has been shown to react with nucleophiles such as phosphorus oxychloride, vinyl ether, and pyrrole. 6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carbonitrile has also been found to be a potential vanilloid receptor agonist. It reacts with nitric oxide to form an intermediate that can bind to the vanilloid receptor. This binding leads to activation of the receptor, which then responds by transmitting signals through the body.
