Description:
1,3,5-Trifluoro-2-isocyanatobenzene (TFIB) is an electrolyte additive that has been shown to be a good additive for propylene carbonate. TFIB can be used in analytical methods such as gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. The molecule consists of three fluorines, one isocyanate group and two hydrogens. It is linear with a molecular weight of 120. TFIB has a melting point of -35°C and boils at 229°C. TFIB decomposes into hydrogen fluoride, nitrogen dioxide and water when heated to 280°C.
