Product Information
- 3-Pyridinecarboxamide, 6-(trifluoromethyl)-
- 6-(Trifluoromethyl)-3-pyridinecarboxamide
- Copper(1+) Trifluoromethanethiolate
6-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carboxamide is a reactive organic compound that can be used in the synthesis of polymers. This compound is a kinetic isotope effect (KIE) probe, which is an isotopically enriched analog of an analyte. The KIE probe has a different rate constant than the unlabeled analyte, and this difference can be measured to determine the rate constant for the unlabeled analyte. 6-(Trifluoromethyl)pyridine-3-carboxamide is synthesized by reacting pyridine with trifluoromethyl nitrobenzene and formaldehyde. The reaction is catalyzed by potassium hydroxide and sodium methoxide in methanol.
