Product Information
- 2,4,6-Trichloro-1-Fluorobenzene
- Benzene, 1,3,5-Trichloro-2-Fluoro-
1,3,5-trichloro-2-fluorobenzene is a mesomeric molecule that has two methyl groups and a dipole. The reaction of 1,3,5-trichloro-2-fluorobenzene with benzene produces sulfones. Chlorination of 1,3,5-trichloro-2-fluorobenzene yields chlorofluoride. Nucleophilic attack of the chlorine atom on the methyl group leads to an addition reaction and the formation of a new bond. Additivity is observed in this reaction because the product formed is dependent on the concentration of both reactants. At higher temperatures (above 60°C), nucleophilic attack occurs more rapidly than at lower temperatures because the electrons are more mobile. Reaction time also affects nucleophilic attack; for example, it takes longer for nucleophilic attack to occur when there are fewer reactive sites available for the attacking atom to attach
