5-(trifluoromethyl)-2,3-dihydroinden-1-one is a synthetic chemical that can be synthesized from trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and piperidine. This compound is used in the Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction to form an enantiomer of methyl benzoate. It has been shown to be effective for recycling and reducing environmental pollution. 5-(trifluoromethyl)-2,3-dihydroinden-1-one can also be used as an amination reagent to produce cinnamic acid, which is a phenylpropionic acid derivative.
