Description:

Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carbonitrile (THPC) is an ester compound that is used as a solvent. It also has the ability to react with other compounds, such as amides and hydrocarbons, forming new compounds. THPC can be used in organic synthesis reactions to produce sulfoxides, sulfones, metal salts, and reagents. THPC can be combined with alkali metals to form cyanoacetic acid. In addition, THPC can be reacted with pyridine or alkoxides to form amide or hydrocarbons respectively.
