Product Information
H-Thr-Met-OH is a dinitrophenylated amino acid that has been shown to inhibit the activity of proteinases. H-Thr-Met-OH inhibits the activity of the proteinase enzyme, which breaks down proteins and peptides in cells. The inhibition of this enzyme prevents the breakdown of proteins and peptides, which are necessary for cell growth. This compound may also reduce the production of acetaldehyde, an important metabolite in alcohol metabolism. H-Thr-Met-OH is used as a type strain against other strains of bacteria. It is also used to determine if a bacterial strain is fulminant or not by measuring its sensitivity to this compound. This compound can be purified from natural sources such as cyanogen and oriented photooxidation products of aromatic compounds or it can be synthesized artificially for use in research studies.
