Description:
Triethylene glycol p-toluenesulfonate is a hydrophobic molecule that forms micelles in water. It has been shown to be able to penetrate the cell membrane and disrupt the chloride ion gradient, which leads to an influx of chloride ions into the cancer cell and its death. Triethylene glycol p-toluenesulfonate has also been shown to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis in a mouse model of breast cancer. Triethylene glycol p-toluenesulfonate is not toxic to normal cells, which may be due to its ability to preferentially target cancer cells.
