Description:
2-(4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)pyridine is a boronic acid that reacts with pyridine to form a 2-pyridinium salt. The reaction condition is typically tetrafluoroethane (TFE) and dicarbonate in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate or triethylamine. This product can be synthesized by adding di-tert-butyl dicarbonate to tert-butyl alcohol in the presence of hydrochloric acid. The transition metal catalyst pinacol ester is used to promote this reaction.
