N,2,6-Trimethylaniline is an aniline derivative that has a magnetic property and can be used in magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is also used as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of other organic compounds. N,2,6-Trimethylaniline has been shown to react with metalaxyl to produce a compound with a mass of 336.3 amu. This process is monitored by measuring the molecular ion peak at m/z 337.3. The reaction products are separated by gas chromatography and identified by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy or mass spectrometry.
