- Pyrimidine, 2-(trifluoromethyl)-
- Pyrimidine, 2-(trifluoromethyl)- (9CI)
2-Trifluoromethylpyrimidine is an alkylthio group that has been shown to be a potent agonist of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. It has also been found to act as a selective antagonist of the CB2 cannabinoid receptor, but not the CB1 receptor. Receptor activity can be measured by cb2 cannabinoid receptor binding and activation in human liver cells. 2-Trifluoromethylpyrimidine is reactive with water or organic solvents, which leads to it being considered a potentially hazardous substance. The compound has two nitrogen atoms and one hydroxyl group, which are responsible for its tyrosine kinase inhibition and poly-adp-ribose polymerase inhibition properties respectively.
