2-(1,3-Thiazol-4-yl)acetamide is an adenosine receptor antagonist that has been shown to inhibit the formation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This drug also inhibits the breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate by inhibiting phosphodiesterase. 2-(1,3-Thiazol-4-yl)acetamide has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time in rats. It has been studied in patients with bladder cancer and found to be effective as an antiplatelet agent. 2-(1,3-Thiazol-4-yl)acetamide is a powerful inhibitor of thromboxane B2 production and can prevent vasoconstriction or coronary artery spasm.
