Product Information
4H-Thieno[3,2-b]pyrrole-5-carboxylic acid (TCA) is a chemical substance that has been shown to inhibit the transport of d-alanine in rat brain synaptosomes. This substance has also been shown to have an antipsychotic effect by inhibiting the release of dopamine. TCA has been used as a pharmacological treatment for schizophrenia and other mental disorders. It has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on neurotransmission by blocking glutamate receptors, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with these receptors. TCA binds reversibly with dopamine receptors and inhibits the release of dopamine, leading to an antipsychotic effect. TCA is a competitive inhibitor of glycine uptake into rat brain synaptosomes, and this may account for its effects on neurotransmission.
