3-(4H-1,2,4-Triazol-4-yl)phenol is a ligand that has been shown to bind to the metal ions of copper, nickel and zinc. The magnetic properties of this ligand have been studied by X-ray structure analysis and magnetic measurements. Low spin 3-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenol shows paramagnetism while high spin 3-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenol is diamagnetic. This ligand also has crossover behavior with other ligands. 3-(4H1,2,4-)Triazolyl phenols are heterocycles that can be used in the synthesis of new compounds for use in coordination chemistry experiments.
