Tributylstannyliodomethane, also known as triiodomethane, is a chemical compound that is stable in the presence of amides, halides, and other functional groups. It is synthesized by a copper chloride-catalyzed coupling reaction of chloroiodomethane with an amine or amide. Tributylstannyliodomethane has been used for the detection of hydroxy groups and diagnostic purposes. Tributylstannyliodomethane has also been used as an intermediate for the synthesis of eleutherobin, which may be used to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
