2,4,5-Tribromoimidazole is a molecule that can be used in the synthesis of polymeric matrices for tissue culture. It has been shown to inhibit the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and can be used as a pharmacological agent. In addition, 2,4,5-tribromoimidazole is a product of the Suzuki coupling reaction and is an amide with a carbonyl group. This compound is also toxic to virus type-1 and herpes simplex virus.
