Thiazolo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-amine is a heterocyclic compound that is structurally related to the thiazolidinones. It has antimicrobial activity and has been found in bacterial strains of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The molecule has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in research studies. Thiazolo[4,5-b]pyridin-2-amine binds to ammonium ions and chloride ions, which inhibits the growth of bacteria by disrupting their cell membranes. This drug also inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA, leading to cellular death through apoptosis.
