Tetrakis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) [1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diylbis(phosphonite) is a phosphite that can be used as an additive in polymer synthesis. It has been shown to have stabilization properties and control studies have shown it to be effective at concentrations of less than 0.5%. The FT-IR spectroscopy of this compound has been studied extensively and the carbonyl group and hydroxyl group are confirmed by proton NMR. It is stable in the presence of strong acids and bases and does not react with water or alcohols. Tetrakis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) [1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diylbis(phosphonite) is capable of undergoing a number of chemical reactions including addition to alkenes or alkynes; addition to nitriles;
