Thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine-5,7-diol is a synthetic compound that is used as an anti-fungal agent. It inhibits the synthesis of RNA in fungi by deaminating their ribosomal RNA. The effect of this drug on fungi is irreversible and it does not require direct contact with the cells. Thiazolo[4,5-d]pyrimidine-5,7-diol has been shown to be effective against colocynthis and Traceless (a fungus that causes ringworm). It also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
