Synonyms:
  • 6-Azabenzo[b]thiophene
  • 6-Azathianaphthene
  • NSC 152396
Description:

Thieno[2,3-c]pyridine is a molecule that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It is an adenosine A1 receptor agonist that inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and therefore has strong potential for use in bowel disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer. Thieno[2,3-c]pyridine also produces anti-tumor effects by inhibiting the expression of genes related to tumor progression. This compound penetrates cells easily and is soluble in organic solvents. The molecule can be synthesized using a preparative method involving a flow system with a molecular weight of 213.5 daltons.
