Description

Tocoretinate is a drug that has been shown to be useful in the treatment of symptoms in patients with bowel disease. The drug is an organic compound, which is made up of two amino acids, tyrosine and histidine. Tocoretinate binds to collagen gel and magnesium salt to form a thin layer on the skin surface, providing protection against bacterial infection. This drug may also be effective in the treatment of other conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diabetic neuropathy. Tocoretinate has been shown to have a covalent linkage to epidermal growth factor (EGF) as well as basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). In addition, it has been found that this drug can stimulate skin cells and cyclic peptide synthesis by human fibroblasts.
