Product Information
Tetrakis(diethylamine)tin is a solvent with a low boiling point that is used as a carrier for reactions in organic synthesis. It has also been used to monitor chloride ion concentration, due to its ability to selectively bind chloride ions. Tetrakis(diethylamine)tin can be synthesised by reacting diethylamine with tin (II) chloride dihydrate and sodium nitrite in tetrahydrofuran. This compound is soluble in water and insoluble in organic solvents. Tetrakis(diethylamine)tin has been used for the preparation of various metal-containing compounds, including ligands and linkers that are used in catalysis, such as cyclopentadienyl complexes. It can also be used for the synthesis of polymers that have chromophores or optical activity.
