This compound also reacts with carbene and singlet oxygen to form an unstable intermediate that spontaneously demethylates to form the corresponding alcohol. It has been used in the synthesis of conjugate acids of biflavonoids such as quercetin and kaempferol. The methoxy group on 2,4,6-Trimethoxybenzeneboronicacid allows for reactions with arylboronic acids.
