Product Information
- Tridecane-1,13-diol
1,13-Tridecanediol is an alcohol with a formula of CH(CH)2O. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water, ethanol and ether. 1,13-Tridecanediol has been synthesized by the reaction of acetone with chloroform and sulfuric acid. 1,13-Tridecanediol has attracted attention because it can be used as an intermediate for preparing a variety of chemicals and plastics. The molecule can be alkylated to produce homologues, which are compounds that have the same molecular formula but different structural formulas. The diffraction patterns obtained from the peaks in the spectrum indicate that there are two conformations: one in which both hydroxyl groups are on the same side of the molecule and one in which they are on opposite sides of the molecule.
1,13-Tridecanediol has a constant boiling point of 204 degrees Celsius at atmospheric pressure.br>br>
