- 4-(4-(2-bromoethoxy)phenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole
- 4-(1,2,4-Triazol-4-Yl)Phenol
4-(4H-1,2,4-Triazol-4-yl)phenol is a tetranuclear heterocyclic compound that is structurally related to 4-methylphenol. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of cervical cancer cells in culture and in mice. The use of 4-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenol for the treatment of cervical cancer is based on its ability to bind to DNA intramolecularly and form hydrogen bonds with adjacent nucleotides, which inhibits the synthesis of RNA or DNA. This agent also shows antitumor activity against several other types of cancer cells. The molecule can also be used as a reagent for the detection of perchlorates in water and as a reagent for the determination of chloride ions in petroleum products.
