Trichlamide is a chemical pesticide that inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the enzyme fatty acid synthase. Trichlamide has been shown to be effective against a number of bacterial strains, including subtilis and Bacillus subtilis, as well as protocatechuic acid-producing bacteria. Trichlamide has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the growth of fungi, including Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. The mechanism of action for trichlamide is not yet fully understood but may involve inhibition of protocatechuic acid production or inhibition of fatty acids synthesis. Trichlamide also possesses biological properties that are similar to those of dimethyl fumarate, which is used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
