Description

2-(2,2,3-Trimethyl-1-cyclopent-3-enyl)acetonitrile is a citronellyl nitrile and a suppressant. It is used in the production of microemulsions, which are polymer matrices that suspend oil droplets in water by emulsifying them. These microemulsions can be used as a solvent for organic materials or as an adjuvant for detergents to reduce surface tension. 2-(2,2,3-Trimethyl-1-cyclopent-3-enyl)acetonitrile is also used to produce cyclic compounds by evaporating alcohols and alkalizing the mixture. This chemical has been shown to have cosmetically useful properties due to its ability to deformation, alcohols and alkalizing.
